This cookbook is AMAZING!!! There are photos of the "grandmothers" with the raw ingredients and photos of the finished product. It's so nice to have a little bit of info about each of the women whose recipes are featured in the book; it gives you a sense of connection.The recipes were easy to follow and alternatives were offered for ingredients that may not be readily available to everyone. I read through the entire book as soon as I received it and am really looking forward to making some new and delicious recipes!!!The only thing I would suggest is to include recipes from different countries in any subsequent books.
I purchased this book as a gift for my mom. Its a very sweet, unique book. I looked through the whole book before I gave it to her. It was so neat to see how people eat all around the world. The ingredients they use. Also, very neat to look at all the pictures in the book of all the different kitchens women cook in around the world.
I love this book that shows the grandmas in their homes with the ingredients (one with an iguana and another one with caterpillars!) , along with the backstory and finished dishes. These women show pride in their food and family and that is the theme throughout this wonderful book.
This is a wonderful nook about what grandmas all over the world cook. I got it for my mom for Christmas and she loved it. Great pictures of each of the grandmas and their signature dishes!
I enjoyed the celebration of grandmothers from varied countries and cultures. There were very few recipes I would cook. Most were a beef/starch combo. A few contained ingredients such as shark or catapillars.
Our family has lived all over the world and many of these foods are "going home" for us. Beautiful illustrations and done with such love!! You can see the joy that making a traditional meal to feed loved ones brings to each of these women. No matter where in the world or what the meal is, the Love is universal.
Our family loves this book. my wife cooks meals from here and before we eat we read the story about the food we are eating. Great way for kids to diversify their palates and learn about other cultures.
This is a beautiful book for your kitchen or coffee table. It has great stories from loving grandmothers across the world that show their love through cooking. I have not made any of the recipes in this book, but I love to sit and look at the beautiful women and their stories.
