It's always difficult to write a review about a book that I have listened as audio. As the quality of narrator has such a great influence on the experience I can never say I would have liked or disliked the book if I read it myself. In the case of Razor Wire the narrator was perfect and I really enjoyed the story, controversial as it was. I was well written and interesting, but the total experience in this case was what I liked most.
I rated 5 stars mostly on originality. Most f/f romances have the same or similar storylines and cliches. I liked that this told a different story, had relatable circumstances and characters for any female in a male dominated environment and touched on tough topics that weren't just surface lesbian issues.The author did a great job of thoroughly addressing the tough issues without this being depressing. It still had light hearted moments and the great romance that romance junkies like me crave.I highly recommend!
This book was upsetting. Not for itself, it was engaging and well written. But for the material. It's a pretty uncomfortable read, to be honest. But that's par for the course. I did like where things ended up. I wouldn't know from first hand experience, but the situation depicted and the various reactions inside the story didn't ever read as implausible to me. Quite the opposite in fact, I imagine this is all too depressingly realistic.
This book deals with very sensitive subject matter in a way that does not glorify it for the sake of the book. For that alone it deserves four stars. The plot tends to double back on itself in some places but overall this book is worth a read. The characters are easy to relate to and readers in any branch of service will be able to relate to the relationship between grunts and superiors as well as the strict rules of conduct all must abide by.
I enjoyed this book. The author dealt with a very sensitive issue and handled it wonderfully. As a veteran myself, I would love love to say that stories like this one doesn't exist in real life but that isn't so. Good book...good read. I would recommend for sure.
It's my first time reading anything from Lauren Gallagher and I liked this book in general. What I didn't like about it, however, is the way in which the women were portrayed as "helpless", that the men had all the power and that the "damsel in distress" was ultimately saved by a man. That I found annoying.
A good quick read. Hello of a story. Traumatic and triumphant both. Great chemistry between the two leads. I wish it had been longer and gone abit more in depth about their relationship. Still I enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Well done.
This was a really good story. The characters where easy to love and the story in itself was interesting. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because I still don't know the meaning of MA, LPO... I am not good with military terms, so I would have liked some explaination. Otherwise it was really great!!!
