Ham’s backstory is gradually revealed as she rescues her imperiled “sister.†Of course she is a highly-trained former operative living off the grid but called to mete out justice and vengeance to dirty cops. The plot twists are clever and the epilogue is touching. The stage is deftly set for the next books in a new series. If you like Mark Dawson’s thrillers this book should please.
Fast paced, heart pounding and scary delight Dustin keeps producing rapid paced books like no other. Once I start a book it is nearly impossible for me to put it down.Dustin, you have it all and you give your all. Indeed we are the lucky ones.
I like when you can really get to know characters in a book. Makes it “realâ€. But in this book everything has a 20 word description. I mean everything, the shirt, the leaves, the door to the house, the truck, EVERYTHING! About killed me to finish it. Take out the profanity and I’d bump it up a star or two. Some poor editing also. Would not recommend because of profanity.
What a ride this book was! Forced myself to finally put it down about 2 am knowing I had to get up for work. Great leading character and want to know more of her story, training, etc. I hope the author has more lined up for her in a series as I’ll be waiting to order. Thank you for a great read!
I want another HAM book! And, I want to read her backstory. Isn’t that what a good read is all about. Involvement with the main character? Never, not for one second, did I want to skip ahead because I wanted to read all the words - so should you! Read this book.
His books continue to get better and better. The storyline and the characters are entirely believable, and the main characters stand out as real people. If this is a first book in a series, I definitely look forward to the next!
I liked the female lead in he story, she was a talented lady. Her sister and daughter needed her assistance. She responded and reentered a life she had hoped to leave behind. It was fast moving and surprises kept popping up to try and thwart her efforts. The ending was pleasant and we look forward to more adventures from HAM.
In a long string of always exciting reads, this struck me as the best so far! We learn that 'Ham', a retired (?) operator, is pulled suddenly back into her strong suit. In her struggle to protect the only ones she seemingly ever cared for, we see time and again that well-honed - yes, doable! - skills are what separate the truly-hard from all the rest of us. And we find why she is rightfully known as Ham.
