The description of the addict-coaddict cycles really hit home, especially the part about the coaddict becoming overvigilant. That was me! I can't quite give up the idea that I might be able to control his behavior by reading his emails, questioning his every move, etc., but I feel I can get there after discussion with him about letting go. The best thing about this book is the theme of changing MY behaviors, not his. Decide what I can and cannot tolerate and stick to my guns. If he screws up, decide how I will deal with it. It was helpful too to read that it is important to make a decision (to stay or go) rather than wallowing in indecision forever. There is no right or wrong answer, but whether I stay in this relationship or not, I need to change my way of thinking in order to be stronger going forward. Obviously, I thought this book was helpful!
I am angry, I was in a first marriage where I was determined not to become a coaddict and, I did NOT! I left and got help for the reasons why I loved too much... But, in working so hard in NOT being one in my second marriage AND taking the guilt my second husband put on me, knowing abouty first marriage, I believed him when he said the problem was ME... Kind of... But not deep down, so I worked harder to FIX him and HELP him and in trying to HELP HIM, I find, that I have done just that, become co addictive!! This book has opened my eyes! I am trying so hard now to LET GO AND LET GOD! I will refer back to this book often and plan to read other suggested reading also.
This book has helped me so much. I could not believe how it was like reading my life with my husband. He is an addict and we are now getting divorced but this book helped give me so much insight. It helped me see there is life after a failed marriage with a sex addict. I never realized I was codependent to him until reading this. Also, that it is his problem and not mine. I recommend it to all spouses of sex addicts everywhere.
This is the best book I have read, so far. I have read most out there - but this is the first I read that wasn't geared towards understanding the addict. This one sure helped me understand, but it's a book for ME - a CO-Sex Addict. It's short, concise, and easy to understand. Some books get a bit technical for my liking. I don't want to know statistics - I want to heal! Good luck, and take care of you! Don't forget you are not alone. [...]
For those who have been shocked by learning of a significant other's sexually addictive behavior, this book contains some helpful information, especially in the final chapter on cybersex. Wading through it is a bit tough, though, because it very poorly written and apparently was published without any editing. Codependency is narrowly defined and explored, and thus the portions on regarding it will apply to some but not all readers. So will the author's statement that finding out about her husband's first affair was not so hard.

Did not care for it. It seed as if it were written to enable. Would not recommend. It is not a recovery book.
After reading this book I was very very disappointed. I liked it at first. Then it said I the coaddict was as bad or worse than the sex addict. I find that to be very disturbing.
