You may want to start at the beginning with the first 5 Men of Marietta books in this series. Then go on to the first Marietta Medical book -- Resisting The Doctor. Then you'll be up to speed for this book -- Challenging the Doctor. This is the story of Jade and Edmund, Dr. Lucy Davidson's brother. Edmund has arrived in Marietta, Montana from Florida after an unfortunate legal battle. Jade is trying to finally settle family matters in Marietta after the death of her father. Both work in the Marietta ER. There are several very steamy scenes between Jade and Edmund. The long overdue truth is uncovered about an unsolved case from the Men of Marietta books. Lots of good food at the Diner. Excellent writing makes for a fast read! Love Fred!
Dr. Edmund Davidson had been a partner in a high-end medical practice in Florida until he was accused of embezzlement and nearly ended up in prison. Although he was cleared, he lost his job and many of his friends. He agreed to move to Marietta, Wyoming to work with his sister Lucy at the local hospital. He meets nurse practitioner Jade Phillips, who has had a traumatic childhood and an even more horrible marriage. Jade has returned to Marietta to start her life over again. They connected instantly. Unfortunately, I did not connect with either of them. Edmund is an ER physician who is tall, built, gorgeous, and intelligent. Strangely enough, he has problems talking to women...they make him stutter. He also blushes constantly and acts more like an awkward preteen with a first crush than a grown man. Jade has survived being molested as a child and abused by her late husband. She seems like a strong, capable person...but lets her criminal brother walk all over her. I didn't find a lot to admire in either character. The dialogue was not good. Several times it made me snicker and I'm sure that it wasn't what the author intended. My favorite character was the dog, Fred.Sexual situations may offend some readers
WoW what a surprise author Patricia W Fischer gives us in Challenging the Doctor!. First off let me say Edmund is indeed Dr Prince Charming and Jade is one lucky lady. This book was so good. It was well writ and we got to catch up with so many well loved characters. Loved seeing some get put in their places while others we see how they have advanced and grown. I was highly impressed with how Jade's past was spoken about and loved how women are lifted up in this book. Can't wait to see who we get to meet next from this family.
When I first started reading, I had to stop and take a look at the title. I thought for sure I was reading another story from Narnia! With brothers and sisters named Edmond, Lucy, Peter and Susan....how could I not think of Narnia? This is an amazing story of how much one person's family can cause and dump pain and embarrassment on the one good well meaning member of the family. However, no matter what that person shines to others who are not related. This story solves some old mysteries. I definitely recommend reading this and and I can't wait for the next one.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I also purchased a copy.I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I read it in one sitting. The characters were believable and the plot was interesting. Edmund and Jade both had painful pasts. What I really enjoyed is that there was open communication between them. Their pasts were discussed and overcome. I could really see the chemistry between the two of them right from the beginning. There was a scene when Edmund had dinner with his sister and her boyfriend that was a little disappointing to me about Edmund but because the book had a dual POV format, I was able to completely understand where he was coming from. While I may not agree with his opinion again at least I understood him better.I really have to go back to read the first book in this series to meet Edmund's sister and Jade's best friend get together. It sounded really good.I do recommend this book to anyone over the age of 18.
This book was beyond annoying and in massive disarray. So repetitive and cliche. And what happened to the editing. Let me summon up the book:Chocolate( sage’s)Instant lust and loveNo angst quick reveal of each other’s pastJackal and Hyde personalitySpeak normal throughout most of the book then begins stutteringUnnecessary details like setting the table and the mundane unnecessary inner dialogueThen the big drama at the end that was not even neededI could go on but I digress you get the point.
I really enjoyed this book! The main characters, Edmund and Jade, are both nice characters dealing with bad situations in their lives. You find yourself really wanting to root for them, and for everything to go well. The only thing I found really unrealistic was them falling in love, basically in just a couple of days. That just seemed way too quick, especially for two people just coming out of bad relationships. The story itself is really a nice one, and I do recommend it!
Jade has had lots of major trauma in her life and is having a hard time feeling that she deserves anything good for herself. This is not a clean book. Mostly oral sex.
